Would you like to have something in common with the Hollywood set? Well, now you can. Stars such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Tom Cruise, Megan Fox and Zac Efron have all turned to their cosmetic dentists for porcelain veneers to transform their smiles. Luckily, porcelain veneers aren’t only available in Hollywood. Hermitage residents can turn to Dr. Spadafora to create beautiful smiles with veneers.
Porcelain Veneers: A Natural Smile
Porcelain veneers have been a staple of cosmetic dentistry for many years. And like just about everything else in the dental field, they have improved dramatically over the years. Today, it’s difficult to distinguish between a tooth covered with a porcelain veneer and a natural tooth. Porcelain veneers are made of high-quality dental porcelain or sometimes composite resin materials. Both porcelain and composite resin are somewhat translucent so they have the ability to reflect light, which is one of porcelain veneers’ qualities that makes them remarkably similar to natural teeth.
What can Porcelain Veneers do?
Porcelain veneers, also called dental veneers or just veneers, have the ability to correct and conceal a number of different smile flaws. Teeth that are chipped, stained or cracked can easily be concealed behind veneers. A broken tooth is made to look whole again, crooked teeth are straightened and a misshaped tooth is given a new form with porcelain veneers. They can also be used to close gaps between teeth that are irregularly spaced.
Placing Porcelain Veneers
As with any cosmetic dentistry procedure, Dr. Spadafora will first conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and gums to ensure that your mouth is healthy; dental problems such as a cavity or gum disease will require treatment before your veneers are placed. At your consultation with Dr. Spadafora, we’ll take x-rays, photos and impressions of your teeth that will be used to design veneers that will be the correct size and shape of each tooth and complement your unique facial features.
Placing veneers usually requires scheduling two appointments. At the first, Dr. Spadafora will file away a slim layer of enamel from your teeth. This ensures a close and proper fit. At the end of this appointment, a temporary set of veneers will be affixed on your teeth that will remain in place until you return for your second veneers appointment.
At this visit, Dr. Spadafora will remove the temporaries and bond your customized porcelain veneers over your teeth. Once each veneer is in place, you’ll have a new smile that is worthy of the red carpet!
